Its running costs are met by Edu Archives rather than passed on to pupils and parents, so there is no premium tier waiting behind the next click. A child preparing for a grammar school place in September has exactly the same access as a child whose family could afford a private tutor — which is the entire point.
A free pupil account covers all four skill areas assessed by the main 11+ providers — English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning — in the tightly timed, multiple-choice, no-calculator style that GL Assessment papers use. Because GL is the dominant provider across most UK regions (and former CEM areas have largely moved to GL or bespoke papers since separate CEM 11+ testing was discontinued), practising in that format matters. Being free does not mean cutting corners on how results are read. The main providers report performance as an age-adjusted Standard Age Score, where 100 is the average for a child's age and the scale runs roughly from the high 60s to the low 140s. Because the score accounts for how old a child is on the test day, a summer-born pupil is not disadvantaged against an autumn-born classmate.
